Nigerian singer Divine Ikubor, known as Rema, has made history with his hit song “Calm Down Remix” featuring Selena Gomez, becoming the first Afrobeats song to reach 1 billion views on YouTube.
A recent check revealed that the music video, uploaded to Selena Gomez’s YouTube channel two years ago, has now surpassed 1 billion views, marking it as the first Nigerian song to achieve this milestone.
‘Calm Down Remix’ is also the fastest African song to reach 1 billion views on YouTube, achieving the feat in just two years.
The original version of the song has garnered over 619 million views on the platform.
In August last year, ‘Calm Down remix’ with Selena Gomez became the first African song to hit the billion mark in Spotify’s history.
It currently has over 1.5 billion streams on Spotify.
