A Kuje Magistrate Court on Wednesday granted bail to Alex Ikwechegh, a House of Representatives member representing Aba North and South, in the sum of N500,000.
Ikwechegh was arraigned on charges of allegedly assaulting a Bolt driver, Stephen Abuwatseya, outside his residence in Abuja.
Deji Adeyanju, counsel to the Bolt driver, confirmed that Ikwechegh was scheduled to appear before the court on Wednesday at noon.
The lawmaker recently went viral in a social media video, allegedly showing him assaulting the driver. In the video, Ikwechegh was reportedly heard threatening the driver and claiming he could make him “disappear without a trace.”
