Spain coach Luis de la Fuente has commented on Real Madrid’s decision to skip the 2024 Ballon d’Or ceremony in Paris. Real Madrid opted not to attend after learning that Vinicius Jr. wouldn’t be winning the award.
As a result, Vinicius, along with his teammates Dani Carvajal, Jude Bellingham, Kylian Mbappé, and Antonio Rüdiger, did not travel to the event.
De la Fuente expressed disappointment over their absence, stating that the non-attendance of key players from a club as prominent as Real Madrid isn’t beneficial for the sport.
He said (via Fabrizio Romano): “It is not good for football that a club like Real Madrid is not present at a gala of this nature.”
