PDP Faction Seeks Court Approval to Hold NEC Meeting

A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led by Bauchi Governor Bala Mohammed has filed a lawsuit seeking a court order to prevent the party and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from annulling the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting scheduled for Thursday.

The lawsuit, brought by Imam Auwal at the Zamfara High Court in Gusau Judicial Division, requests that an earlier injunction from the Federal High Court in Abuja, which barred the PDP from removing its acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum, be set aside.

As of now, it remains unclear how the faction loyal to the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, plans to respond to this legal development. The internal party rift continues to unfold, adding uncertainty to the PDP’s leadership dynamics ahead of its NEC meeting.
