Ebonyi Police Promise to Sanction Officers Featured in Viral Extortion Video

The Police Command in Ebonyi has cautioned its officers and personnel to avoid unprofessional behavior and concentrate on enhancing the reputation of the Nigeria Police Force.

In a statement issued to newsmen on Tuesday in Abakaliki, the command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Joshua Ukandu, emphasized that this warning was prompted by a viral video circulating on social media showing officers in the state engaging in unprofessional conduct at their duty posts.

Ukandu condemned the officers’ behavior, stating that such actions would not go unpunished. He also noted that the command has initiated disciplinary measures against those involved, acknowledging the existence of the videos that portray officers acting unprofessionally while on duty.

“We unequivocally condemn their actions and have identified the officers involved; disciplinary actions have already been initiated against them,” the PPRO added.

Ukandu stated that the Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Anthonia Uche-Anya, had reiterated the command’s zero tolerance for extortion.

He added that the CP also warned against any form of misconduct, as any officer found wanting would face disciplinary actions.
