The Senator Ibrahim Lamido Foundation has awarded N900 million scholarship to 100 Students to Study various education courses at Geeta University in New Delhi,India.
The first batch of 43 students have received admission offers at an award presentation ceremony held at Army Officers Mess Sokoto on Saturday.
Sen Lamido (APC), representing Sokoto East Senatorial District at the National Assembly said the students were qualified to pursue their degree courses based on their performance at Secondary School level.
Lamido who was represented at the occasion by a member representing Illela/Gwadabawa federal constituency,Bello Isah Ambarura said already all the expenses of the students such as School fees,accomodations ,flight tickets, health have been settled.
The students, who are the first batch to receive admission offers, have been oriented on travel arrangements to India to begin their studies in Engineering and Health Sciences.
He said the programme was aimed at to encourage the youth of the Sokoto East zone to pursue their education activities with ease.
In his remarks,member representing Tangaza/Gudu– (APC),federal constituency,Sani Yakubu said over N900 million have been earmarked for settlement of the 100 Students education expenses.
He explained that 43 out of the 100 students to be airlifted to India as the first batch of the programme,while the remaining students would join their colleagues in India before end of the year.
Also,the Sole Administrator of Goronyo local government council, Alhaji Kabiru S.Fulani said the beneficiaries would be sponsored in respect of their political families inclinations.
Fulani who is also the chairman of the foundation charged the beneficiaries to reciprocate the gesture by concentrating on their academic activities and should be good ambassadors of the Sokoto state during their stay in India.
