Bayelsa Police Arrest Man for Allegedly Circulating Nude Video of Young Woman

The Bayelsa State Police Command has apprehended a 24-year-old man, Godgift Bai, for allegedly distributing an explicit video of a young woman across social media platforms. The suspect, a resident of Ogbolomabiri in Nembe Local Government Area, was arrested in Yenagoa on Tuesday.

The arrest followed an investigation led by the Cyber Crime Unit of the Bayelsa Police, acting on the directives of the Commissioner of Police, CP Alonyenu Francis Idu. Confirming the arrest, the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Musa Mohammed, commended the unit’s efforts in tracking down the suspect.

ASP Mohammed emphasized the command’s commitment to tackling cybercrime, particularly those involving the violation of individuals’ privacy and dignity. “Our stance against cyberstalking and online exploitation remains firm. We will continue to protect vulnerable individuals from such criminal activities,” he said.

He also urged the public to refrain from engaging in or supporting online exploitation, warning that those found guilty will face the full weight of the law.

The suspect is expected to be charged and brought before the court in the coming days.
