AFCON 2024 qualifier: We will beat Super Eagles again – Olaitan

Benin Republic forward Junior Olaitan has expressed confidence that the Cheetahs can once again defeat the Super Eagles of Nigeria in their upcoming clash.

The two sides last met in June, where Benin secured a surprising 2-1 victory over the Super Eagles. As they prepare to face Nigeria at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Saturday, Olaitan believes his team can repeat that success.

Speaking to BSN Sports, Olaitan stated that the Cheetahs will draw inspiration from their previous triumph. “Our goal is clear—to take all three points in Nigeria,” Olaitan said. “It’s going to be a difficult match, but we are ready for whatever the Super Eagles throw at us.”

He added that their victory in Abidjan has boosted the team’s confidence going into this crucial encounter. “We will build on the momentum from our last win,” he said. “Moreover, having a coach who understands the strengths and weaknesses of the Super Eagles gives us an added advantage.”

Benin, led by former Nigeria coach Gernot Rohr, will be looking to upset the Super Eagles once more, while Nigeria will be keen to avoid back-to-back defeats against their West African rivals.
