Hajiya Aya Dada Yar’Adua, the mother of Nigeria’s former President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, has died at the age of 101.
Sources close to the family confirmed that she passed away peacefully at her residence in Katsina after battling an illness.
Known to many as “Dada,” she was a revered matriarch in the Yar’Adua family, which has long been influential in Nigerian politics. In addition to being the mother of the late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, she was also the mother of the late General Shehu Musa Yar’Adua, a prominent military leader and politician, and Senator Abdu Soja Yar’Adua, a notable figure in Nigerian legislative circles.
