President Bola Tinubu has extended his congratulations to D’Tigress’ coach, Ms. Rena Wakama, on being named the best coach of women’s basketball at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
The Nigerian women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, delivered an impressive performance, becoming the first African basketball team to reach the quarterfinals at the Olympic Games. In a statement issued by his spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, President Tinubu highlighted that Ms. Wakama’s recognition by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) underscores her exceptional leadership and commitment to excellence.
The President also praised the team, the coach, and everyone involved in this historic achievement. He encouraged them to continue striving for greatness, emphasizing that while winning trophies and medals is a significant goal in competitive sports, the values of sportsmanship, discipline, and sacrifice are paramount.
