Gunmen kidnapped 10 members of a family in Kaduna State, including the wife and two daughters of Kogi-based journalist Muhammed Bashir, on Thursday.
Bashir’s wife and daughters had traveled to Kaduna earlier in the day to spend the holiday with family in a suburb of Kaduna metropolis.
In a brief statement on Friday evening, Bashir informed his colleagues in Lokoja, Kogi State, about the incident. He explained that his family, who had left Abuja on the same day, were abducted at their residence that night.
Bashir reported that he has contacted the Police and the Department of State Services (DSS), who assured him that efforts are underway to rescue the victims and apprehend the abductors.
