Nigeria’s D’Tigress will face the defending champions, the United States, in the quarter-finals of the 2024 Olympic Games.
Rena Wakama’s team secured their spot in the last eight with a hard-fought 79-70 victory over Canada on Sunday. The African champions ended the group stage with two wins and one loss. They won their opener against Australia 75-62 but fell to host nation France 75-54 in their second game.
D’Tigress made history as the first African basketball team (male or female) to reach the Olympic quarter-finals.
The USA, meanwhile, won all three of their group matches against Japan, Belgium, and Germany.
The quarter-final clash will take place at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy Arena in Lille on Wednesday.
