Grammy-winning singer Damini Ogulu, better known as Burna Boy, recently offered a glimpse into Nigerian society in a snippet of his upcoming song, “Empty Chairs,” from his seventh studio album, *No Sign of Weakness*.
In the track, Burna Boy suggests that Nigerians who achieve wealth without entering politics often face victimization by a dysfunctional society. He also reflects on how his adversaries have moved from the streets to the digital realm.
“If you’re not a politician and you manage to get rich, they’ll turn you into a victim of society,” Burna Boy sings. “My enemies are no longer on the streets; now they’re on the internet, in the blogs.” The snippet went viral on X on Monday night.
