President Bola Tinubu is currently holding a meeting with Governors from the All Progressives Congress (APC) under the Progressives Governors Forum at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. The meeting, which began shortly after 1 p.m., comes in response to growing calls for nationwide protests against economic hardship.
The agenda of the Thursday meeting remains undisclosed, but it is speculated to be related to the planned protests scheduled for August 1-10 under the hashtag ‘EndBadGovernance.’ These protests, which have gained significant traction on social media, are being organized by anonymous groups with no official claims of responsibility.
This meeting follows a session of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum held on Wednesday night and comes after the last-minute cancellation of the National Economic Council meeting that was originally scheduled for noon on Thursday.
Present at the meeting were also the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, and the Ministers of Finance and Budget & Economic Planning, Wale Edun and Abubakar Bagudu, respectively.
