Lagos Police Spokesman Criticizes Singer Ayo Maff for 'Indecent' Lyrics

Upcoming singer Ayo Maff has faced criticism from SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Public Relations Officer of the Lagos Police, over the lyrics of his latest song “Last Week.” The Lagos State police command has labeled the lyrics as “indecent.”

In the first line of the song, Ayo Maff boasts about consuming Canadian Loud, a potent and imported strain of marijuana, at the beginning of the week and informing his dealer that he had run out of the drug by Saturday.

SP Hundeyin voiced his concerns about the lyrics in response to a widely shared clip of the song on social media platform X. He emphasized that if drug abuse were not prevalent, half of the young people currently detained would not be in custody. He also highlighted that using illegal drugs can lead to criminal behavior.

The PPRO wrote, “He does what on Mondays and Saturdays? Help me listen.

“Like Asa said, there is fire on the mountain and nobody seems to be on the run…

“Fact: Half of the young ones in prison today wouldn’t be there if they didn’t do drugs. Drugs is a precursor to everything bad.

“Eni a wi fun…”
