A retired Brigadier General Harold Udokwere was attacked and killed by suspected armed robbers at his residence in Abuja in the early hours of June 22, 2024.
The attack occurred around 3 a.m. at his home on Sanga Street, Sunshine Homes, near Kabusa Junction in Lokogoma, Abuja.
Reportedly, the robbers demanded jewelry, money, and other valuables before fatally shooting the retired general. They also injured a neighborhood guard during the attack. Udokwere was transported to the National Hospital Abuja, where he was pronounced dead.
In response to the incident, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Commissioner, CP Benneth Igweh, has ordered a comprehensive investigation to uncover the circumstances surrounding the attack. SP Josephine Adeh, spokesperson for the Police Command, confirmed the armed robbery and the subsequent death of Brig. Gen. Udokwere in an official statement.
CP Igweh offered condolences to the bereaved family and assured them and the public that the police would ensure swift justice. He emphasized the commitment of the police command to enhancing the security of the nation’s capital by continually adapting strategies to effectively address evolving criminal activities.
