BBNaija Season 6 winner, Whitemoney, opened up about one of his significant career challenges, highlighting how Nigerians fail to appreciate his music style.
Speaking on The Echoo Room podcast, Whitemoney discussed his genre, Kumkum, and expressed frustration that Nigerian promoters do not recognize him as a musician or value his musical style, similar to how they initially perceived Davido and Burna Boy before their fame.
He pointed out that Nigerians often have a habit of undervaluing local talent but are quick to celebrate them once they gain international recognition. This disparity in recognition has fueled Whitemoney’s determination to prove his detractors wrong and succeed in the music industry.
“That’s what they did to Burna, David; they don’t believe in their star but when outsiders appreciate you, they will pay times two.
“Just they pray make I no blow because if I blow; I’m a star in my lane. Nobody rivals my talent; you’re good in your way, I am the king; that’s why I have my own genre,” he stated.
