Super Eagles Fall to 38th in FIFA Rankings

The Super Eagles have declined in the latest FIFA men’s ranking, released on Thursday morning.

The three-time African champions fell eight places from 30th to 38th.

This drop follows a 1-1 draw against South Africa’s Bafana Bafana in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, and a 2-1 defeat to Benin Republic in Ivory Coast, affecting their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign.

Nigeria also dropped two places in the African rankings, now fifth behind Morocco, Senegal, Egypt, and Cote d’Ivoire.

World champions Argentina retained the top spot, with France, Belgium, Brazil, and England completing the top five.

Liberia emerged as the top climber, advancing 10 positions to their highest-ever rank of 142nd and gaining 37.47 points.

Equatorial Guinea saw the largest decline, dropping 10 positions and losing 47.53 points.

San Marino remains at the bottom of the 210-team ranking, with Eritrea as the sole unranked country.
