A suspected armed robber accused of fatally stabbing an eighteen-year-old POS operator in Taraba State was set on fire by a mob. The incident occurred near the yam market in Wukari Local Government Area on Monday.
According to sources from the council, the victim, who was preparing for her NECO exams, was attacked in her shop when the suspect entered under the guise of making a withdrawal. Despite failing to steal money, he stabbed her to death.
An anonymous source stated that the suspect attempted to flee but was pursued by youths who caught and set him ablaze.
Ismaila Dauda, Chairman of the local government council, confirmed the tragic event, expressing sorrow over the loss of the young girl’s life and condemning the lynching of the suspect.
Security agencies are currently investigating the incident, as confirmed by the state police command’s Acting Public Relations Officer, Gambo Kwache.
