Edo Police Parade 15 Suspects for Alleged Kidnapping, Armed Robbery, Cultism

In Edo State, the Police Command under Commissioner Funsho Adegboye has made significant strides in combating crime, as evidenced by the recent arrest of 15 suspects involved in various criminal activities. The arrests were disclosed by Adegboye during a parade of the suspects in Benin City on Thursday.

According to reports from, the suspects were apprehended for offenses including kidnapping, armed robbery, cultism, conspiracy, and murder. The operations led to the recovery of assorted arms, ammunition, and other incriminating exhibits from the suspects.

The arrests took place across different locations including Uromi, Awo-Uromi, Amedokhian-Ugboha road, Ugboha bush, Egbele, and Ubiane quarters in Aviele, spanning Esan North East, Etsako West Local Government Areas, and Benin metropolis.

Commissioner Adegboye credited the successful operations to a combination of stop and search operations, credible intelligence gathering, bush combing, investigation, and technical intelligence methods. The arrests were conducted by operatives from the Uromi Division, the anti-kidnapping and cybercrime units, as well as the Edo North Annex office of the unit. These efforts were bolstered by collaboration with vigilante groups and hunters in the region.

Highlighting the severity of the situation, Adegboye noted that eight of the suspects apprehended for kidnapping in Uromi were identified as ex-convicts. This underscores ongoing efforts by the Edo State Police Command to maintain law and order, ensuring the safety and security of residents across the state.
