Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, has weighed in on President Bola Tinubu’s stumble during Democracy Day celebrations.
Tinubu tripped while ascending a parade vehicle at the Eagles Square in Abuja during the June 12 event.
In a series of tweets, Obi expressed sympathy for Tinubu’s mishap, emphasizing the importance of recognizing our shared humanity and not allowing such incidents to divert attention from Nigeria’s pressing issues.
He wrote, “I was saddened to learn of President Tinubu’s unfortunate fall today. I wish him well. We achieve nothing by gloating about an accident that could well happen to any of us.”
“We are all human beings, and while we profoundly disagree on how to move Nigeria forward, we must remember our common human frailty. Let us stay focused on the issues that will lead to a new Nigeria.”
