Mutfwang Inaugurates Plateau Electoral Commission Members

Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State officially swore in members of the State Independent Election Commission (PLASIEC) on Monday. The governor’s action follows his submission of the appointees’ names to the state House of Assembly for confirmation on June 4.

During the inauguration ceremony in Jos, Mutfwang emphasized that the selection process prioritized individuals with proven track records and extensive experience in public service. He underscored the significance of the event, marking a new chapter for PLASIEC after what he described as “shameful” and “disgraceful” local government elections in the past.

Mutfwang charged the appointees, including Chairman Mr. Plangji Chishak, to uphold democratic principles and conduct free and fair elections without interference from the government. He expressed his administration’s commitment to empowering local governance and ensuring transparent leadership selection processes.

In response, Chishak expressed gratitude to the governor for the appointments and pledged to restore confidence in the commission. He assured the public of the commission’s dedication to openness, fairness, and transparency in all its operations.

The newly inaugurated PLASIEC members include Theresa Kaze, Deborah Akanle, Waziri Kwande, Ado Adare, Audu Dorzhi, Dr. Longman Pensiwan, and Pam Davou, who serves as the commission’s Secretary.
