Kano Deputy Governor Apologizes to NSA Over Emirship Tussle

Kano Deputy Governor Malam Aminu Gwarzo issued a public apology to National Security Adviser (NSA) Nuhu Ribadu on Monday. This follows Gwarzo’s earlier accusation in a video interview at the Emir’s palace in Gidan Rumfa, where he claimed the NSA orchestrated the return of deposed Emir Aminu Bayero to Kano.

Addressing journalists at the Government House in Kano, Gwarzo admitted he was misled and expressed regret for any embarrassment caused to the NSA. He emphasized the integrity of the NSA, stating, “We were shocked to hear the NSA’s name mentioned in the plot to impose a deposed Emir in Kano, knowing his integrity and pedigree. We are human and can err at any time.”

Gwarzo assured Ribadu of his and the governor’s continued support and cooperation. He also urged President Bola Tinubu to investigate the events in Kano to ensure peace and stability in the state.

The NSA had previously denied the allegations and, through his lawyers, demanded an apology, citing the distress caused by the false accusation.
