Operatives from the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) invaded the Cross River State Assembly Complex following the impeachment of Speaker Elvert Anyambem, On Wednesday.
Anyambem’s impeachment led to a brawl in the House.
The former Speaker, representing Ikom 2 State Constituency, was impeached by 17 members of the Assembly.
His impeachment was based on allegations of misappropriation of funds.
Members of the Assembly had expressed concerns about the Speaker’s conduct and the management of the Assembly.
After his impeachment, the mace was taken away by the members.
