Kogi, Kwara, Ondo: States with Highest Food Prices

Kogi, Kwara, and Ondo have emerged as the states in Nigeria grappling with the highest food prices, as per the latest data from the National Bureau of Statistics April’s Consumer Price Index and Inflation report.

The report indicates that Kogi State tops the list with the highest food inflation rate, standing at 48.62 per cent, followed closely by Kwara at 46.73 per cent, and Ondo at 45.87 per cent on a year-on-year basis.

Conversely, Adamawa, Bauchi, and Nasarawa recorded the slowest rise in food inflation, registering rates of 33.61 per cent, 33.85 per cent, and 34.03 per cent, respectively.

However, when examining the Month-to-Month basis, Lagos, Edo, and Yobe emerge as the states facing the highest food prices.

On this scale, Lagos experienced a rise of 4.74 per cent, followed by Edo at 4.06 per cent, and Yobe at 3.99 per cent, marking the slowest increases in food inflation within the mentioned timeframe.

This revelation coincides with a notable surge in April’s headline and food inflation rates, which escalated to 33.69 per cent and 40.53 per cent, respectively.
