The death toll from the Tuesday attack on Ogbaulu community in Agatu Local Government Area by suspected Fulani herdsmen has risen to nine, with the recovery of three more bodies on Wednesday.
Gunmen invaded the Agatu community on Tuesday evening, resulting in the tragic loss of lives. Initially, six bodies were recovered, with several individuals reported missing and 20 motorcycles stolen by the attackers.
Confirming the discovery of additional corpses, Comrade Adole Jose Ehoda, a youth leader from the community, stated that, with the assistance of the military, three more bodies were found.
“Through the joint efforts of security agencies, we combed the neighborhood where the attack occurred and were able to locate three more bodies, one of which was previously reported missing,” Adole remarked.
The victims whose bodies have been recovered thus far include Haruna Oja, Michael Ondachi, Isah Adakili, John Akwila, Dangai Peter, Face, Awewe, an Igbo trader, and an unidentified young boy.
