Just In: Labour Withdraws from Minimum Wage Negotiations

Organised Labour, On Wednesday, withdrew from the ongoing minimum wage negotiations with the Federal Government.

This decision followed the offers made by the FG and the Organized Private Sector (OPS) of N48,000 and N54,000 wages respectively, which the labour group deemed “ridiculous.”

Reports indicate that while the FG did not present any supporting data for its proposal, unlike Organised Labour, the OPS stated that none of its members pays less than N78,000.

Benson Upah, the spokesman of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), confirmed the withdrawal.

He said, “Yes we are out. We are about to address the press and you will get the details then”.
