Unidentified Gunmen have claimed the lives of 11 individuals, among them a pregnant woman, in Ole’Adag’aklo village within the Usha Council Ward of Agatu Local Government Area (LGA) in Benue State.

As reported by local residents, the gunmen descended upon the village on Sunday evening, wreaking havoc on its inhabitants by taking the lives of 11 people and kidnapping several others.

Yakubu Ochepo, the Chairman of Agatu Local Government Area, verified the occurrence to reporters on Monday.

“11 people were killed. Of the number, seven corpses have been recovered. The corpses of a pregnant woman, an elderly man and five youths have been recovered. The soldiers have been able to recover the remaining four corpses.

“Soldiers went there to recover the corpses. There were gunshots and the armed herders ran away only to regroup. I’m in Makurdi now to report to Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS). We need more hands. We hear they also captured some people alive and threw others into the river.”
