Kanayo O. Kanayo, a seasoned Nollywood actor, has encouraged Nigerians to present their first salaries to their parents for blessings instead of offering them to religious leaders.
The actor expressed his belief that the tradition of giving the initial salary each year to a pastor, prevalent among Nigerian Christians, lacks a biblical foundation.
He urged Christians to become more discerning and refrain from making imprudent financial choices in the guise of religious practice.
On his Instagram account, Kanayo wrote: “Take your first salary to your father for his blessings, not your pastor.
“And to that Pastor who said it belongs to him in a video in January, did you ever consider, the feeding/ transportation to and fro the office for that month? Where is this in the Bible?
“Christians wake up. This is not Christianity.”
