Twenty-six students benefiting from the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) scholarship have achieved first-class honors at Igbinedion University, Okada, Edo State, according to a statement by Igoniko Oduma, Special Assistant on Media to the Administrator of the PAP, Chief Dennis Otuaro.
During a visit to the institution, the Vice Chancellor, Prof Lawrence Ezemonye, confirmed this remarkable achievement. Otuaro, during his visit to Igbinedion University and Benson Idahosa University in Edo State, reaffirmed his commitment to promoting peace, security, and development in the Niger Delta through the PAP, aligning with President Bola Tinubu’s vision.
He emphasized the importance of efficiently implementing the PAP to garner support for the Federal Government’s efforts in the Niger Delta. Otuaro praised Igbinedion University for being the first to accept PAP scholarship students and acknowledged their contribution to the success of the programme.
Interacting with the scholarship students, Otuaro assured them that their challenges would be addressed and urged them to focus on their studies to excel academically.
In his remarks, VC Ezemoye highlighted the positive impact of the programme, with many students achieving distinctions in professional courses like medicine, nursing, and medical laboratory studies. He commended the PAP for meeting its obligations to the students and pledged continued collaboration to offer opportunities in competitive fields like medicine and law.
The PAP, established by the Federal Government, aims to transform ex-agitators in the Niger Delta into entrepreneurs and employable citizens. Its mission includes restoring the programme’s original intent, training ex-agitators as entrepreneurs, and coordinating with relevant agencies for the development and security of the region.
