Former Super Eagles icon survives deadly accident; wife hospitalized, brother lost

Former Super Eagles winger and Atlanta ’96 Olympic Games gold medalist, Tijani Babangida, narrowly escaped a fatal accident, as reported by www.sportsunlimited.ng.

The accident occurred while he was travelling with his wife and brother along the Kaduna-Zaria highway.

Sources close to the 30-capped Nigerian international revealed that while Tijani emerged unscathed, his brother, Ibrahim Babangida, tragically lost his life in the incident.

Tijani’s wife, although fortunate to survive, sustained injuries and has been admitted to the University of Zaria Teaching Hospital.

Abdul Sule, Tijani Babangida’s former national team colleague, confirmed that the ex-Niger Tornadoes winger is conscious and has spoken to him on the phone. However, he did not elaborate on the details of their conversation.
