Former Super Eagles goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama has denied turning down the chance of becoming the goalkeeper’s trainer in the new technical setup to be headed by Finidi George.
Reports had suggested that the former Lille of France star turned down the overtures from the Nigeria Football Federation to have him as part of the new technical setup but Enyeama has now debunked the insinuations saying he would grab the chance with both hands if contacted.
“If I am given that opportunity I will take it immediately, but it’s news [potential appointment as new Super Eagles goalkeeper trainer] to me. Two people asked me about being the new Super Eagles goalies trainer on Instagram but I just could not say anything.
“The truth is that nobody from the Federation has told me anything, and that’s why I am confused with the aspect that I have not responded. They have my contacts so I believe they would contact me directly if it’s true and not the media. But if it’s true, I am cancelling my holiday plans and straight to work with the team,” he told Afrik-Foot.
“How can I say no to working with this team? This is one of the best teams anywhere right now, and that’s why I’m really pained the way the final match against Cote d’Ivoire ended.
“I will say yes because I would enjoy being a part of this team. There’s great possibility to achieve so much with them. It is a very balanced side.
“It’s sounding like a rumour but let it end as a good story. Mind you, I won’t push for this appointment; I won’t go out of my way to ask for it but if it comes, I will say yes.”
