The Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company, IBEDC, has commenced the implementation of a reduced tariff adjustment, lowering it from N225/Kwh to N206.80/Kwh specifically for band A customers.
This adjustment comes in compliance with the directive issued by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, NERC, instructing DISCOS to decrease tariffs solely for band A customers.
According to a report from the News Agency of Nigeria, the National Assembly responded to consumer protests regarding tariff hikes by instructing the commission to take action.
Mrs. Busolami Tunwase, Lead of Media Relations at IBEDC, conveyed to NAN in Ota, Ogun, that the revised tariff went into effect starting May 4.
“Customers using prepaid meters will be the first to experience the revised tariff – N206.80/Kwh whenever they vend this month of May.
“While for post-paid customers, the revised tariff will reflect in the electricity bills to be received at the end of May 2024,” she said.
Tunwase said the tariffs for bands B, C, D and E remain unchanged.
