Mr. Macaroni, the comedian and social media influencer whose real name is Debo Adebayo, clarified that he wasn’t the catalyst for the reconciliation between renowned music producer Michael Collins Ajereh, popularly known as Don Jazzy, and veteran singer Daniel Oyebanjo, also known as D’Banj.
The duo, who co-founded Mo’ Hits Records in 2004, had a significant impact on the Nigerian music scene until their split in 2012.
However, on Friday, after a hiatus of 12 years, Don Jazzy and D’Banj seemingly reconciled.
In a viral video shared on Friday by D’Banj on Instagram, both artists were captured embracing each other and exchanging pleasantries. The video served as a promotional piece for D’Banj’s latest single, ‘Since 04,’ which pays homage to the now-defunct Mo’ Hits Records.
Additionally, the post commemorated Mr. Macaroni’s birthday, with him sharing the video and expressing his joy, stating, “It’s My Birthday and I got the perfect Gift.”
Despite speculation fueled by an old tweet from Mr. Macaroni in March 2013, where he expressed his desire to reconcile D’Banj and Don Jazzy, he clarified on Friday that he wasn’t directly involved in initiating the reconciliation. He mentioned that both artists had maintained a cordial relationship prior to this.
Mr. Macaroni wrote, “Well, I didn’t do any reconciliation because they have been cool. But I’m so glad I can come back to this tweet and smile because Jah knows I have always loved these two with all my heart.”
Mo’ Hits Records once boasted artists like Don Jazzy, D’Banj, Dr. Sid, and Wande Coal.
Following the split, Don Jazzy founded Mavin Records, signing artists like Korede Bello, Di’Ja, Reekado Banks, Johnny Drille, Poe, and the DNA Twins, among others.
On the other hand, D’Banj signed with Kanye West’s “Good Music” and established DB Records, signing producers Jaysleek and Deevee, his brother K-Switch, and later, Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh.
