Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River State has called upon citizens of various religious backgrounds to promote peaceful coexistence at all times.
In particular, the Governor urged Muslim faithful to continue praying for peace and unity within Nigeria amidst prevailing economic challenges.
In a goodwill message to Muslims celebrating the 2024 Eid-el-Fitr, marking the end of Ramadan fasting, Governor Otu, in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Gill Nsa, acknowledged the love, selflessness, and sacrifices demonstrated by Muslims throughout the holy month.
He encouraged them to extend their acts of kindness beyond Ramadan, emphasizing the importance of reflecting on and embodying the fundamental principles and teachings of Ramadan while expressing gratitude for the successful completion of the fast.
Governor Otu emphasized the significance of Ramadan in Islam worldwide, noting its teachings of abstaining from worldly pleasures and strengthening faith through prayer and piety in accordance with Qur’anic teachings.
He also expressed appreciation to those who support his people-centric agenda, aimed at uplifting the poor and vulnerable in society through government policies and programs.
