Bandits Exchange Bullets In Katsina, Notorious Commander Killed

The reported killing of the notorious bandit known as Dangote, along with his two brothers, by a rival gang led by Kachalla Dankarami, also known as Goska, sheds light on the ongoing violence and conflict in sections of Katsina and Zamfara states.

According to sources from Batsari local government in Katsina state, the gun battle occurred in the early hours of Sunday at Dunmurun in Zurmi local government area of Zamfara state. Dankarami’s gang laid an ambush against Dangote and his associates, resulting in a fierce confrontation.

The conflict reportedly escalated due to a dispute over the theft of a flock of sheep, which led to retaliatory actions from both sides. Despite the triggering incident, the clash seems to have been premeditated, with prior warnings given to local communities about the impending violence.

The violent encounter resulted in casualties on both sides, with Dankarami sustaining injuries and several of his associates killed. Ultimately, Dangote was reportedly beheaded by Dankarami himself using a knife.

The rivalry between Dangote and Dankarami illustrates the power struggles and territorial disputes among criminal gangs operating along the Katsina-Zamfara border. Their confrontations have led to significant casualties within their respective camps over time.

Additionally, Dankarami’s ability to relocate his operations between Zamfara and Katsina in response to military pressure highlights the challenges faced by security forces in combating organized crime in the region.

The incident underscores the urgent need for enhanced security measures and concerted efforts to address the root causes of criminal activities in the affected areas to restore peace and stability to the region.
