Police rescue 100 kidnapped victims in Katsina

The Katsina State Police Command has reported the neutralization of five suspected bandits and the successful rescue of 100 kidnapped victims within the state.

In a briefing to journalists in Katsina on Friday, ASP Abubakar Sadiq-Aliyu, the command’s spokesperson, disclosed these achievements recorded by the command in March. Additionally, the recovery of 658 rustled animals and the apprehension of 11 suspected murderers and 29 rapists were reported during the same period.

Sadiq-Aliyu highlighted that a total of 51 major crime cases, including armed robbery, kidnapping, culpable homicides, and cattle rustling, were reported in March. Out of these cases, 30 involving 64 suspects were charged to court.

Moreover, nine suspects were arrested for armed robbery, and 19 others were apprehended for various offences such as intimidation, incitement, theft, and association with criminal gangs.

Furthermore, the command presented a cheque exceeding N4.5 million to 13 families of deceased police officers who lost their lives in the line of duty. DCP Aminu Usman-Gusau, Deputy Commissioner of Police for Finance and Administration, presented the cheques on behalf of the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr. Aliyu Abubakar-Musa. This financial support is derived from the Group Life and Inspector General of Police Family Welfare Insurance Schemes to assist the families of deceased personnel.
