Liverpool: Troy Deeney names coach that’ll succeed Klopp at Anfield

Watford’s forward, Troy Deeney, has put forward a suggestion regarding who might eventually take over from Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool.

Klopp is set to depart Anfield at the conclusion of the season, having announced his decision in January to take a sabbatical following an immensely successful nine-year tenure at Liverpool.

In light of Klopp’s impending departure, Liverpool has been on the lookout for his successor.

During an interview with talkSPORT, Deeney proposed Gary O’Neil as a potential candidate for the managerial position at Liverpool once Klopp bids farewell to the Reds.

“You are inheriting people who are used to winning, they are all internationals. It is a good one but also it can be a real big shoe to fill, so you’ve got to be a certain type of character,” Deeney said.

“I’m going to throw a name at you, I think they [Liverpool] need a coach next year more than a manager, so I’m going to say Gary O’Neil.”

O’Neil is currently the head coach of Premier League club Wolverhampton Wanderers.
