FA Cup: ‘They had strong belief’ – Ten Hag reacts to Man Utd’s 4-3 win over Liverpool

Erik ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United, has praised his players following their remarkable 4-3 victory over Liverpool in the FA Cup quarter-final on Sunday.

In a match that will go down in FA Cup history, Amad Diallo’s late goal in extra time at Old Trafford secured a thrilling victory for the Red Devils.

Liverpool came agonizingly close to securing qualification on two occasions—holding the lead as late as the 87th minute of regular time and once again in the 112th minute of extra time—only for Manchester United to rally with two equalizers and an astonishing winning goal.

“The first 35 minutes I think was the best minutes from our season,” Ten Hag told ITV.

“We were really there, acting as a team. But then gaps in between the lines and you can’t allow this against Liverpool. Then they outplay you.

“And also after half-time, it continues.

“We had to change. We went into the risk, we went into one against one, and the players were wonderful – the mentality, the attitude was so great.

“They had strong belief to win this game. We went for it and we got it.”
