President Bola Tinubu on Monday, declared his preparedness to resolve the long-standing farmers-herders crisis in the country.
Tinubu pledged to devise programs aimed at bringing an end to the crisis within a span of two to three weeks. This commitment was expressed during the inauguration of the mechanized agricultural project in Minna, Niger State.
However, the President emphasized the necessity for state governors to allocate lands that would support the successful implementation of his proposed programs.
According to Tinubu: “We must reorient our farming population, including livestock programme.
“I don’t see why Nigeria can’t feed all our pupils with one pint of milk a day if the dairy system is well harnessed
“I know what it means as an economic sabotage for cows to eat up the crops and vegetation of our land.
“When we reorient the herders and make provisions for cattle rearing, governors must provide the land and I as the President is committed to giving you, in two to three weeks’, a comprehensive programme that will solve this problem.”
