On February 29, troops from the Joint Task Force Northwest, Operation Haderin Daji (OPHD), successfully carried out a rescue mission in Zamfara State, saving two kidnapped victims and eliminating a bandit. Lieutenant Omale Suleiman, the information officer of Operation Haderin Daji, disclosed this information.
The operation, skillfully executed by the troops stationed at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) OPHD Dan-Marke, was initiated based on intelligence reports indicating the movements of bandits near Kairu village. According to Omale, the operation involved a rapid and effective response, leading to an extended gun battle that compelled the bandits to retreat with injuries.
“One bandit was neutralized, and an operational motorcycle was recovered.
“The troops responded to a distress call in Unguwar Sarkin Musulmi village which resulted to the rescue of a driver and passenger, giving security to the axis
“In another operation in Katsina State’s Batsari general area, OPHD troops engaged bandits, neutralizing two and recovering an operational motorcycle, prompting others to flee into the forest,” he said.
According to him, Major General Godwin Mutkut, the General Officer Commanding 8 Division, commended the troops’ gallant performance, urging them to sustain the momentum until peace was fully restored in the Northwest.
