EPL: He’s world class – Walcott disagrees with Rio Ferdinand over claim on Arsenal’s Saka

Theo Walcott, the ex-Arsenal striker, has come to the defense of Bukayo Saka, contradicting the opinion of Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand, who asserted that the 22-year-old winger is not a world-class player.

Ferdinand stirred controversy among Arsenal fans with his remarks about Saka on his VIBE with FIVE podcast. The former England center-back contended that Saka cannot be deemed world-class until he demonstrates his abilities in the crucial stages of the UEFA Champions League.

In response to Ferdinand’s comments, Walcott has now offered his response to Ferdinand.

“Yeah, I mean, people are entitled to their opinion,” Walcott said at the London Football Awards on Thursday.

“I get it. For me, he is. His numbers are showing that and his consistency as well in the best league in the world.

“Phil Foden is world class as well, all of these guys. But Saka is world class in my opinion. My son loves him.”
