Southern Kaduna communities are encouraged to collaborate with local security agencies to combat insecurity and address the pressing issue of drug abuse among the youth. The Global Peace Foundation Nigeria, in partnership with the AMAYA Peace Foundation, organized an event in Southern Kaduna to raise awareness against drug use.
Emphasizing the crucial need for cooperation between community members and security forces, the Foundation highlighted the urgency of tackling the widespread problem of drug abuse to ensure a harmonious living environment in the region.
Rev. John Joseph Hayab, the Country Director of Global Peace Foundation Nigeria, urged participants to approach the issue of drug addiction with empathy and compassion. He stressed the necessity for a shift in societal attitudes, advocating for love and support to facilitate the rehabilitation and reintegration of those affected by substance abuse.
Sheikh Halliru Maraya, the Northern Coordinator of Global Peace Foundation Nigeria, promoted the concept of ‘One Family Under God,’ emphasizing the inherent unity among humanity regardless of diverse backgrounds. He underscored the severe consequences of illicit drug use, particularly its impact on mental health and societal stability.
The event facilitated discussions among participants, leading to the proposal of practical solutions to address the multifaceted challenges posed by drug abuse in the Southern Kaduna region.
