AFCON: Super Eagles earn $2.5m for reaching semi-Final

The Super Eagles have amassed a substantial $2.5 million in prize money after advancing to the semi-finals of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). The Confederation of African Football (CAF) had announced a 40% increase in prize money just before the commencement of the tournament.

It is important to note that this prize money is separate from the bonuses and allowances that the players received from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF). The overall winner of the AFCON stands to receive $7 million, while the runner-up will earn $4 million.

Teams reaching the quarterfinals will be awarded $1.3 million each, and those making it to the Round of 16 will receive $800,000 per team. Nigeria is set to face the Bafana Bafana of South Africa in the semi-final at the Stade de la Paix, Bouake, on Wednesday.
