President Bola Tinubu is set to depart Abuja for Paris, France, on Wednesday for a private visit, according to a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale. The statement, titled ‘President Tinubu travels to France,’ did not specify the purpose of the visit but mentioned that he would return to the country in the first week of February 2024.
This marks Tinubu’s third visit to France since assuming office eight months ago. On June 20, 2023, just three weeks into his presidency, he initiated his foreign engagements with a visit to Paris, where he participated in the Paris Summit for the New Global Financial Pact. The purpose was to review and sign a pact prioritizing support and investment for vulnerable countries affected by climate change, energy crises, and the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In September 2023, President Tinubu attended the 78th United Nations General Assembly in New York, spending nine days with world leaders. Following the assembly, he proceeded to Paris for a five-day stay before returning to Abuja on September 29, just ahead of Nigeria’s 63rd Independence Day anniversary on October 1.
