Guinea-Bissau head coach, Baciro Cande, has expressed determination that his team will exert maximum effort in their upcoming match against Nigeria.
The Djurtus have encountered setbacks in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, suffering defeats to hosts Cote d’Ivoire and Equatorial Guinea in their initial two fixtures.
Cande’s team now faces the challenge of defeating the Super Eagles to maintain any hope of progressing to the Round of 16.
“We have one game left to close the group stage and we hope to win,” Cande stated after his team’s loss to Equatorial Guinea on Thursday.
Having previously met in the qualifiers, with each country securing a victory, the Djurtus clinching a surprising 1-0 win in Abuja, and Nigeria retaliating with a triumph in Bissau, the teams are set to clash again at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium in Abidjan next week Tuesday.
