The Kogi State House of Assembly has approved the Social Investment Programme Bill, which was one of four bills passed during Thursday’s plenary session in Lokoja, the state capital. The other bills include legislation regarding the retirement of judiciary staff, the repeal and re-enactment of the Customary Court of Appeal (Establishment) Law of 2008, the establishment of the Kogi State Meat Hygiene and Inspection, and the establishment of the Kogi State Secondary Board.
Deputy Speaker Comfort Nwuchiola supervised the thorough consideration of these bills, with lawmakers meticulously examining each clause during the session. These bills, having been passed by the hallowed chamber, are now awaiting the assent of the Executive Governor of Kogi State.
Simultaneously, a bill aiming to establish the Kogi State College of Agriculture in Ochaja-Egume, along with its associated purposes, has progressed to the second reading in the Kogi State House of Assembly. Presenting the case for the bill on Thursday, the immediate past Deputy Speaker, Enema Paul, argued that the proposed college would serve as a crucial institution fostering intellectual capacity to boost agricultural output in the state.
