A tragic accident on Monday at Fidiwo on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway resulted in the confirmation of five fatalities and injuries to eight individuals.
Mrs Florence Okpe, the spokesperson for the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun, provided this information to reporters in Abeokuta.
Okpe clarified that the incident, which occurred at approximately 1:58 pm, involved a Mazda bus with the registration EKY 582 YE and a Mercedes Benz truck lacking a registration number.
The accident was attributed to a tire burst and the subsequent loss of control by the truck, leading to its collision with the bus.
“A total of 15 people were involved in the accident, eight men and seven women.
“Eight people were injured from the crash while five persons died,” she said.
Okpe quoted the state Sector Commander, Anthony Uga, as advising motorists to pay more attention to their tyres.
He equally urged motorists to avoid the use of expired tyres.
