Alhassan Yusuf undergoes scan for injury, may be ready for Cote d’Ivoire clash

Super Eagles midfielder Alhassan Yusuf will undergo a scan in the next 24 hours to ascertain the extent of the injury he suffered against Equatorial Guinea.

He is suspected to have suffered a quad injury and was forced out of his AFCON debut after he impressed for the 68 minutes he was on the pitch.

A source said that the player is walking normally and “that would not have been possible if he tore his front thigh muscles”.

 

The Antwerp star was certainly one of the major positives from a disappointing 1-1 draw with Equatorial Guinea.

He held his own despite the physicality of the match and did not look out of place for a player who was only called up last week after injury ruled Wilfred Ndidi out of the tournament.

Despite being forced out of the match after 68 minutes, a source stated that he is walking normally, indicating that he may not have torn his front thigh muscles.

 

Yusuf was one of the standout players in a disappointing 1-1 draw with Equatorial Guinea. He impressed on the pitch and did not look out of place despite being a last-minute addition to the team due to an injury that ruled out Wilfred Ndidi.
