Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has authorized the disbursement of N708,158,208.77 for the settlement of retirement benefits owed to 461 retirees throughout the state.
This announcement was made in a statement released on Saturday by Mamman Mohammed, the spokesperson for Governor Buni. The statement indicated that the approval was given after the completion of the screening process for the third batch of pensioners across the 17 local government councils in the state.
“The payment would be made directly to the retirees while the next of kin of those deceased would be paid on behalf of the deceased persons.
“The payment would no doubt support the livelihood of the retirees, especially for a life in retirement”, the statement added.
Recall that, it was reported that similar approval was granted in November last year with an upward review of the monthly standing payment of gratuities from N100 million to N200 million aimed at covering more beneficiaries every month.
